Description

Iowa Emergency Response Corps members are here to deliver support to meet the basic needs of Iowans, lending a hand to organizations that are experiencing challenges due to COVID-19. Corps members are available to provide 450 hours of service to a host agency, offering full-time for twelve weeks or part-time service for longer, as needed. Emergency Response Corps Members can help address food insecurity, support independent living needs, manage volunteers, or provide other supports that help address the challenges facing our communities and citizens as we deal with the implications of COVID-19 in our state.

VISTA Summer Associates go where the need is greatest: to communities facing poverty, inequity, and unemployment, and especially those organizations that are experiencing challenges due to COVID-19. Summer Associates serve for intensive, short terms of service lasting eight, nine, or ten weeks. Unlike year-round VISTAs, Summer Associates can perform direct service activities without limitation. They may perform activities such efforts to secure additional funding, create a community volunteer program, develop new outreach materials or curricula, improve client intake and service systems, preparing, packaging, and distributing meals, tutoring children, building low-income housing, and much more! Summer Associates alleviate poverty--not simply make poverty more tolerable--and increase impact for the populations served.

The positions available in the VISTA project are 8, 9, or 10 weeks and provide a living allowance of $240/week. The positions for the COVID-19 AmeriCorps Recovery Program are 450 hours over the course of 12 weeks - 6 months. The maximum weekly living allowance is $315.
