The AmeriCorps VISTA member will complete an asset base mapping project to determine programming needs, seek funding, build partnerships, establish a volunteer base, develop, implement, and evaluate adapted recreation and sports programs as well as promote programming via social media and other traditional methods. Working closely with a coalition of community partners, the City of Sioux City, and the Department of Public Health, the VISTA member will establish a volunteer management program, increase the communities capacity to offer adaptive sports for people with disabilities, and develop new programs at the Miracle League complex serving the community at large.

VISTA member can choose between end-of-year cash stipend of $1800 or the AmeriCorps Education Award in the amount of $6195

Desired Certifications or Qualifications
Course work in related field can substitute a degree program if candidate is still working to obtain degree.
1-3 years of experience recommended but not required.
Permits attendance at school during off hours
Prohibits paid work outside of the sponsoring agency at any time
