Description

United Ways of Iowa is currently recruiting Iowa Reading Corps AmeriCorps members to serve as trained Elementary Literacy Tutors who work one-on-one with K-3 children who need extra practice developing their reading skills. Members will begin their term of service on September 5, 2017 and end by July 31, 2018. Iowa Reading Corps AmeriCorps members serve in one school throughout the duration of their term of service and participate in school activities to further engage with students and their families. During the summer months, members partner with local United Ways and school districts to participate in literacy-based summer programs to help combat summer learning loss.

In return for their service, full time members earn a $12,630 living allowance, an education award of $5,815 to pay back existing student loans or to use for future educational expenses, an optional health care plan and childcare assistance for full-time members who meet eligibility guidelines. Members who are 55+ also have the option to transfer the value of the education award to a child, grandchild, or foster child.

Full-time and half-time positions are available across the state of Iowa. Apply today at https://fs20.formsite.com/readingcorps/form132/form_login.html.
