Description
POSITION PURPOSE:
The Cedar Valley Readers AmeriCorps member serves as a temporary (9-week) position to develop the Cedar Valley Readers Campaign for Grade-Level Reading coalition. The Cedar Valley Readers Campaign is a local collaborative effort to help more young children to read well by the end of third grade. Cedar Valley Readers is part of the national Campaign for Grade-Level Reading initiative.
TYPICAL SERVICE CONDITIONS:
Office environment. Some in-town and occasional out of town travel
AMERICORPS TASKS & ACTIVITIES:
1.Contribute to the updates of library book database
2.Plan and develop a book drive
3.Help in the implementation and tracking of the Little Free Library initiative
4.Help gather data from the Y Believe Summer Learning Academy and help form a post-program survey for parents
5.Help plan and implement three Parent Nights for the Y Believe Summer Learning Academy to increase parent engagement
6.Create important campaign messages through Cedar Valley Readers media and newsletter.
7.Participate in opportunities to further improve Cedar Valley Readers’ effectiveness and reach, including participating in community meetings
8.Prepare required summer reading core reports/information as required in an accurate and timely manner
9.Develop new positive relationships with partners and the general community
