Description

VISTA members serve in a full-time capacity for a one-year position at different nonprofits across Kentucky that provide housing services and services essential to maintaining housing. The EnVision Center VISTA member will build the capacity of Family Scholar House by developing and implementing financial literacy activities and services for disadvantaged, very low income, first generation college students that are single parents and youth aging out of foster care in Louisville, Kentucky. Participants benefit from financial literacy and management so that we are truly breaking the cycle of poverty. As a result of the VISTA member’s service, there will be an increase in community awareness and volunteer engagement for the mission of the agency as well as an increase in the capacity of individuals to work with participants in the area of career readiness and financial literacy. To enhance their personal and professional development, each VISTA member will participate in a number of comprehensive training and learning experiences during their service year.
