Description

Our AmeriCorps members serve 1700 hours over a one-year term with different housing nonprofits throughout Kentucky. The AmeriCorps member at the Sunshine Center in Frankfort, Kentucky will help families find safe, affordable housing in a timely manner. They will do this through housing counseling, client intake and assessment, and connecting with local landlords to identify affordable housing in the area. The Sunshine Center offers free counseling services for child and adult victims of abuse and neglect, as well as completely free parenting classes for parents of children ages 0-17.
In all of the parenting classes, parents learn how to deal with the stress of being a parent; as well as developing better communication skills, learning appropriate discipline approaches and positive behavior management.
