Description
The Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) Corps is an innovative AmeriCorps program that engages community based organizations to support widespread implementation of Mental Health First Aid™ in communities across the nation. Goals are to improve awareness, recognition and ability to respond to the needs of those experiencing symptoms of mental illness.
AmeriCorps members will serve as Mental Health First Aid Instructors, certified to teach the 8-hour MHFA-USA course to members of the public. AmeriCorps members will be responsible for all aspects of the training courses such as community outreach, building partnerships, marketing, participant tracking/ evaluation, and grant writing to non-Federal agencies to support MHFA trainings in the community.
