The VISTA Resource Development position will work with host site to develop internal communications plan, expand presence on social media and improve communications between development team and volunteer services team to cross promote Habitat for Humanity.

Service Activities

1) Analyze current processes, research best practices and develop strategies relating to social media, internal communications plan and communications between Volunteer Services and Development teams.
Member Activities:
1. Analyze current social media channels used and impact of postings
2. Review and organize stock photo’s available for social media postings
3. Partner with members of Development and Volunteer Services team to analyze system and look for ways to cross promote to donors and volunteers
4. Review internal communication channels

2)Develop and begin implementing an internal communications plan, social media plan and cross communication plan for development and volunteer services.
Member Activities:
1. Design and begin implementing plans for internal communications, social media and cross communication
2. Initiate outreach to current donors and volunteers
3. Gather feedback from employees during design process
4. Train employees prior to implementation

3) Continue to implement, create sustainability plan and train employees on internal communications plan, social media plan and cross communication plan for development and volunteer services.
Member Activities:
1. Continue with implementation of plans
2. Review and make any adjustments of plans
3. Create sustainability plan
4. Train employees on developed plans

Community Need Addressed

This position will help addresses the unmet poverty need of inadequate housing conditions experienced by low-income Iowans.

Position Outcomes

VISTA members will develop and expand housing resources to low-income families through two focus areas: 1. Increasing access to current programs and resources by expanding resources into underserved rural areas of the state; and 2. Develop strategies to increase donations that will result in more affordable housing constructed and repaired. Sustainability will be the focus. Because sites are at different capacities, a sustainability plan will be created that meets the individual community needs.
