ReStore development VISTA members develop, document and implement plans to mobilize more funds for local house building through the development of ReStore opportunities and operations. As a ReStore development VISTA, you may develop ReStore business processes, create a volunteer staffing plan, recruit and train volunteer staff members, publicize and promote the store, and evaluate the impact and effectiveness of the store in the community. You will develop and implement an enhanced ReStore volunteer program, as well as marketing and donor plans that will address the needs of your Habitat organization. You will ensure that the ReStore development program is sustainable, continuing after your term of service.

Service Activities

•Research, develop and implement a ReStore-specific volunteer recruitment, orientation, training and recognition plan that increases the amount of repeat volunteers serving in the ReStore. Create a restore volunteer directory database to capture volunteer data.
•Research, develop and implement marketing and outreach strategies/materials designed to increase visibility of the ReStore in the community and increase unrestricted revenue as a result of increased purchases and donations. Develop a media directory database. Develop materials which are relevant to the various media outlets sourced in the media directory database.
•Research, develop and implement ReStore donor outreach plan to increase recurring donations. Create a ReStore donor directory database of local businesses and community partners that would be ideal donors.
•Research, develop and implement new or updated ReStore procedures and policies to be in line with standard ReStore operating procedures that have been identified as best practices.

In 2018, Habitat helped more than 8.7 million people, and an additional 2.2 million gained the potential to improve their living conditions through training and advocacy. In addition, more than 1.4 million volunteers were mobilized to build, advocate and raise awareness about the global need for shelter.
