Project development VISTA members work with staff members and volunteers to develop and implement new programs, create or improve policies and procedures, and develop strategies to build leadership and leverage resources that increase the number of families served through the Habitat mission. During your service, you will support the Habitat Mortgage Solutions (HMS) team at Habitat for Humanity International. The VISTA selected for this position will help develop marketing and training materials to facilitate a fifty-state rollout of a newly-piloted mortgage platform, currently available in Florida and Georgia. The VISTA will develop materials that explain the role of the system and procedures for affiliates to join as well as training materials to enable successful adoption of the platform by affiliates. The VISTA will also receive feedback from participating affiliates in order to better understand affiliate needs and help guide improvements to the mortgage platform. Through this platform, Habitat affiliates will be able to more efficiently create and bundle mortgages, thereby freeing time to work directly with more homeowner families more deeply.

All Habitat AmeriCorps members will have the opportunity to travel to the Habitat AmeriCorps Build-a-Thon, an annual blitz build event. Habitat AmeriCorps members also receive a variety of position specific trainings including volunteer safety Courses and access to online and in-person courses of interest offered by Habitat for Humanity International to its staff members and volunteers. Habitat for Humanity International's (HFHI) employee resource groups are also open to AmeriCorps members and offer social, networking, professional development and leadership opportunities for its members. Thus far HFHI has the following groups whose membership and activities are open to anyone volunteering or serving with the organization: BEST: Black Employee Success Team (focuses on African American community ), NextGen (focuses on young professionals community), Neustro Hogar (focuses on Latino/a/x community), and Spectrum (focuses on LGBTQIA+ community).
