This member position will build and maintain the pipeline of homeowner families by leading the efforts to recruit qualified families for homeownership opportunities, and educate the families about program requirements and the homeownership process. This member will be the point of contact for all new homeownership applicant families. This member position is designed to move us substantially forward in accomplishing the affiliate’s goals of providing more affordable, decent homes for our community. The position will fully focus on New Homeownership recruitment, applicant education, application processing, and volunteer management. Because Habitat Metro Denver has gone live with an online 24/7 application to our New Homeownership program, we have a large applicant pool that needs to be processed, help answer questions, and resolve technical issues with the online application. In addition, the AmeriCorps would be responsible for managing our Computer Lab in the Metro Denver office, including scheduling for computer use by applicants and volunteer management/recruitment for the Computer Lab.
The Family Services Department has set out to lower the barrier of entry for families to apply to our New Homeownership program by creating an online application that is available for families 24/7. This new application has proven wildly successful, providing the affiliate with over 1,000 applications in the past 5.5 months. In addition, the Family Services has rolled out an in-office Computer Lab to provide support, education and guidance to families who are not yet comfortable applying to the online application on their own. Because of the success of the online application, the staff has been strapped to provide the necessary support to families applying to the program who are not successful, including providing referrals to other resources in the community to improve their chances at a successful reapplication. This position will be integral to supporting the staff in answering questions and providing resources to this huge cohort of applicants. In addition, the position will provide needed support and volunteer management for the new Computer Lab. The AmeriCorps position would help the staff in this growing demand, providing the staff needed time to create processes and systems to ensure efficient management of this growing demand of applications moving forward. Although we cannot serve this number of applicants with an affordable home and loan, we can provide the necessary education and referrals to put them on the right track for success.
