Family services coordinators build and maintain the pipeline of homeowner families by recruiting and educating qualified families for both homeownership and home repair opportunities. As a family services coordinator, you will recruit homeowner family applicants and serve as their point of contact as they go through the application and sweat-equity process . You will work with a committee to select homeowner families for a variety of housing products, including new home construction, repair or rehab of existing homes, and weatherization projects. You will organize and provide educational opportunities to homeowner families and may also conduct application orientations, assist families in application completion, and build alongside families.

Service Activities

•Coordinate existing programs to recruit homeowner applicants for traditional homeownership opportunities or for expanded housing products such rehab, repair or weather revitalization.
•Conduct applicant orientations and assist families throughout process of completing the housing application.
•Work with Family Selection Committee to select partner families based on established criteria and regulations.
•Attend family selection meetings and prepare monthly summaries on partner family progress for committee.
•Track partner family hours and send families monthly updates and letters.
•Work with the Family Services Committee and staff to provide educational opportunities to partner families. Plan and carry out homeowner education courses and recruit appropriate instructors/speakers as needed.
•Work with partner families to plan their house dedication.
•On occasion, build alongside partner families as they complete their sweat equity requirements.

Many benefits vary by service location. However all Habitat AmeriCorps members will have the opportunity to travel to the Habitat AmeriCorps Build-a-Thon, an annual blitz build event.
