Serve in colorful Colorado with Habitat for Humanity of the St. Vrain Valley, based in Longmont, CO! Our service area stretches from the Plains to the Mountains, including Estes Park at the base of Rocky Mountain National Park. AmeriCorps members are an integral part of our organization, serving on the construction site, behind the scenes in the office, and in the ReStore Home Improvement Outlet. AmeriCorps members helped St. Vrain Habitat recover from the disastrous floods of 2013, but the rebuilding efforts are far from complete, as the need for affordable housing in the community continues to grow! St. Vrain Habitat has an AmeriCorps house blocks from downtown Longmont with access to restaurants, shops, and the growing Colorado craft beer scene. St. Vrain Habitat AmeriCorps Alumni say Colorado is a great place to serve with AmeriCorps because of all the free outdoor activities that are accessible right from your doorstep, not to mention the 300+ days of sunshine! As a Construction Crew Leader, you are integral to our goals of building more homes and better neighborhoods and communities throughout our service area. Your primary responsibility will be to assist with hands on construction tasks including, but not limited to, site prep, framing, roofing, finish carpentry, landscaping and clean up. Additionally, you will lead small groups of volunteers, providing them with on-site orientations and safety talks and ensuring that they are well-employed while on work sites. On occasion, you may participate in larger community projects or affiliate events.

Many benefits vary by service location. However all Habitat AmeriCorps members will have the opportunity to travel to 2 national events, National Service Leadership Conference and the Habitat AmeriCorps Build-a-Thon. Habitat AmeriCorps members also receive a variety of position specific trainings including CPR/First Aid, Lockton Safety Courses, on-the-job training in a variety of construction practices and many more.
Housing is available for St. Vrain Habitat AmeriCorps members at $100/month for first-year Habitat AmeriCorps and free for second-year Habitat AmeriCorps members.
Desired Certifications or Qualifications
• U.S. citizen, national, or lawful permanent resident
• Driver's license
• Ability to work with a diverse group of people, and experience working as a member of a team
• Ability to be on one’s feet for extended periods of time, often on rough and uneven terrain
• Ability to lift at least 50 lbs. on a regular basis
• Ability to work on ladders and heights of up to two-stories
• Ability to work in varying weather conditions – sites are often not heated during winter and not air-conditioned during summer
• Ability (or willingness to learn) to drive large pick-up trucks
• Experience with power tools
• Experience working with volunteers or teaching/group facilitation experience
