Description

As an AmeriCorps Fellow you will dedicate a year of service, (August 2020 through June 2021), to students in historically marginalized urban communities in one of our four school locations. You will be directly responsible for providing individualized instruction, mentorship, and enrichment opportunities to several small groups, (1 to 6 students per group), of middle or high school students each day. This is a full-time role and you will work with 4 to 5 groups of student each day for the length of a period. Fellows collaborate with diverse stakeholders to instruct and mentor students and help develop a community where our students will thrive. The ideal candidate for the Great Oaks Fellowship is a recent college graduate, passionate about service and working with youth. Great Oaks has schools in Newark, NJ, New York, NY, Bridgeport, CT, and Wilmington, DE, and is seeking Fellows for all sites. Great Oaks is seeking individuals who are team-oriented, student-centered, and up for one of the most rewarding challenges of their lives.

Additional Benefits

Great Oaks Fellows are offered a housing benefit where they receive fully furnished shared housing (utilities included) for a nominal cost. Great Oaks subsidizes the majority of the housing cost. This is a unique feature of our program that sets us apart from many other AmeriCorps programs. Fellows are also eligible to receive an additional "Segal Education Award" once they complete 1700 hours of service as a member in good standing.
