Description

Program Description: As the AmeriCorps Goodwill GoodWorks! Resource Connector, you will dedicate a year of service to alleviate poverty in Panama City, Florida. You will have an opportunity to help individuals who have disabilities; returning to the community from incarceration; who are experiencing homelessness; who are single parents; and who have other barriers that put them at a disadvantage in getting and staying out of poverty. You will empower them by providing occupational skills training and assistance in finding jobs and becoming employed. You will learn teamwork, communication, responsibility, personal and professional development, and other essential skills that will boost your resume and future job prospects. You will also join a nationwide network of current and previous AmeriCorps members strengthening our communities. As a representative of Goodwill Industries - Big Bend Incorporated with locations in Tallahassee and Panama City, Florida, you will focus on engaging directly with participants, building long lasting relationships with community members, and help further Goodwill’s mission of removing barriers to employment through job placement, counseling, and career training services. The AmeriCorps Goodwill GoodWorks! Program provides opportunities to serve the local community in meeting needs through training, employment services, and resource connections. This is accomplished by providing barrier assessments, removing barriers, providing computer skills, financial classes, one-on-one and on-the-job training, employability skills, and e-classes that provide the full breadth of training necessary for obtaining a good job. Thousands of individuals and families continue to be impacted by the economic fallout due to the coronavirus pandemic. You will help better the lives of economically disadvantaged individuals by removing barriers in their progression to self-sufficiency, specifically by helping them obtain meaningful and productive employment.

Member Duties : As a key member of our team, the AmeriCorps Goodwill GoodWorks! Resource Connector works directly with participants, helping to further Goodwill’s mission of removing barriers to employment through job placement, counseling, and career training services provided to the local community by: • Assessing participants for employment barriers • Providing or referring participant resources for obtaining employment and self-sufficiency • Planning and presenting one-on-one and group service orientations and workshops • Researching prospective programs and improvement ideas • Providing timely and accurate data entry and record keeping.

Half-Time: (Site Locations: Panama City & Tallahassee, FL)
900 hours; flexible schedule; career development; change lives; modest biweekly living allowance of $356.25 ; education award of $3,172.50

Terms : Uniforms provided and required , Car recommended , Permits attendance at school during off hours , Permits working at another job during off hours .
