The VISTAs help recruit and place retired senior attorneys with legal services organizations. VISTAs also provide resources and/or materials surrounding model practices working with diverse populations.

Service Activities

The VISTAs will develop and implement volunteer recruitment; engage in retention, coordination, and recognition strategies; draft communications materials; plan events; manage data collection and tracking mechanisms.

Community Need Addressed

The Feerick Center administers the Attorney Emeritus Program (AEP) on behalf of the New York State Unified Court System. The Greater New York City AEP Coordinator places senior attorneys with legal services organizations to provide pro bono assistance to low-income New Yorkers with unmet civil legal needs.

Position Outcomes

Senior attorneys placed at one of the 65 partner legal services organizations will provide pro-bono assistance to low-income New Yorkers with unmet civil legal needs.
