You will not only see, but feel, the difference and impact you make in our community.

Service Year: The Flint Model

What Makes Flint Unique?

The national service experience in Flint is unique. We offer a place-based approach to service where our 200 AmeriCorps and 300+ AmeriCorps Seniors members are connected and working together to help accomplish community-identified needs.   Imagine: a school that is served by members of the Flint Community Schools Corps, Michigan Education Corps, Flint Urban Safety and Health Corps, FoodCorps, Coach Across America, LISC AmeriCorps, and Foster Grandparents. Imagine the wrap-around services and supports that can be provided to students! That’s an example of what we have in Flint.   All of our service members have the opportunity to collaborate with each other throughout the year via the Flint National Service Accelerator gatherings, which focus on professional development, networking and fun. Members team up for days of service and other major projects. Across programs, members are colleagues, friends, and sometimes roommates!   Additionally, Flint members network with national service alumni and supporters who are now leaders of the community. The Flint community has created a culture of service which enables our members to thrive and leverage their service years into something amazing. Will you be a part of the transformation?
