Project T.R.E.C. Team Member

Project T.R.E.C. team members work on a 9 person traveling team headquartered in Gainesville, FL. This team travels up to 3 weeks a month to different parks throughout the state. Projects are focused on trail restoration and basic construction including but not limited to: vegetation management, debris removal, re-blazing trails, and upgrading boardwalks and ramps for ADA compliance.

Service Activities

Trail maintenance:
- vegetation control
- overhead hazard removal
- removing dead or hazardous trees
- debris removal from trail
- blazing trails

Trail enhancement:
- rerouting existing trails
- creating new trails
- repairing boardwalks and bridges
- replacing boards for ADA compliance

Community Outreach:
- trail walks
- educational tabling
- volunteer recruitment

Community Need Addressed

Members will serve on a team traveling the state to provide trail restoration in Florida State Parks.

Position Outcomes

Improved hiking, biking, and multi-use trails throughout the state parks. Improved ADA compliance throughout parks.
