Corps members work 32-35 hours at a community agency (that varies based on interest and skills), and spend one day a week dedicated to vocational, and leadership development. Members also become involved with the Harrisburg community.

Service Activities

A broad range of activities in a variety of service agencies. Examples of activities that corps members would complete on a day to day basis might include case management, health and nutrition education, instructing a preschool classroom, assisting with a crisis helpline, and leading a school workshop on environmental justice, among other possibilities.

Community Need Addressed

Our positions assist the partner agencies that we work with in providing a broader range of services they would not otherwise be able to provide without our corps members. Our corps members help support agencies that address community needs including education, crisis management, homelessness, environmental justice, healthcare, and more.

Position Outcomes

Our corps members finish a year of service with a broader understanding of social issues and a stronger sense of self. Agencies where corps members are placed will increase their capacity to address needs such as community and non-profit development, education, homelessness, and refugee services.

Housing is provided, health care is provided as needed, as well as a monthly stipend. House members receive a food allowance that is deposited into a shared food budget. An Employee Assistance Program (EAP) is also accessible that covers services such as counseling.
