Jubilee Year

Episcopal Service Corps
No listings recruiting at this time

Jubilee Year fellows spend their year partnered with community-minded organizations who can expand their capacity for change making by teaming up with JYLA. More than an internship, fellows are key team members who are empowered with leadership opportunities and given the ability to learn from the experience and passion of their service site while having chances to create, innovate, and use their own skills to enhance the work of our partner agencies.

Corps members walk away from their year of service having gained professional skills that will help them succeed in whatever endeavors they tackle next.

Over its 30 year history, JYLA has established connections with dozens of Los Angeles’ most creative and effective non-profits and public-spirited organizations. From politics and protests to food distribution and immigration support, interfaith and spiritual engagement work, fellows can dig deep and get their hands dirty! JYLA works hard to select only highly motivated, committed, intelligent, compassionate young people to serve alongside our valued partners. With supervision and a clear purpose, Jubilee Year fellows have the opportunity to be invaluable assets in the effort to care for those in need and transform Los Angeles for the better.

Service Activities

JYLA matches Corps Members with a variety of service agencies. Depending on their placement, Corps Members may work in case management, education, tutoring, mentorship, health and nutrition instruction, urban agriculture, and volunteer management.

Community Need Addressed

Jubilee Year provides a personally and professionally transformative service year to young adults ages 21 to 29 who are inspired to change the world.

Serving the Greater Los Angeles area since 1991, JYLA has touched over 10,000 lives through partnerships with over 50 community-minded organizations. Through service, activism, interfaith engagement, and advocacy, we have been part of a powerful movement for justice in L.A. Through our continued dedication to service, community, and equity we’re empowering a new generation of changemakers for the world!

Though JYLA is partnered with and rooted in the Episcopal tradition, we are intentionally religiously pluralistic. Our program accepts, embraces, and encourages people of all faith, religious, and non-religious understandings to participate. Each year, we seek to build a corps that is representative of our diverse world. We believe that Black Lives Matter. We embrace those who identify as LGBTQIA+ and welcome people no matter who they love or how they identify. We don't discriminate on the basis of race, ethnicity, gender, or sexual orientation.
