Help to alleviate poverty for low-income individuals in North Carolina. The Service Year NC Program is an umbrella project that welcomes host sites tackling a wide array of poverty related issues in North Carolina. We place members in organizations and foundations to fight poverty across the state by increasing education and job-training opportunities, creating healthier communities, and ensuring students enter school ready to learn.
Position Description:
The VISTA will focus on supporting residents to develop community-based supports around financial literacy, workforce development, and health and wellness. The VISTA in this role will provide help ParkView residents to build their community capacity to develop and implement new resident-led services, as well as support resident and community efforts to expand existing peer support networks and initiatives. The ideal candidate will be someone who has direct experience of living within a public housing community as well as some experience of community development. The role will provide opportunities for innovative thinking, support for professional development, and hands-on experience in the philanthropic sector.
