Listing Details

Description

The purpose of this position is to recruit and educate volunteers from diverse communities including civic groups, schools, church groups, and outdoor enthusiasts to conduct on the ground habitat restoration projects.

The position will also focus on giving quality environmental educational classes through classical and hands-on learning experiences for students and adults. Potential applicants must be comfortable in teaching principles on science, ecology, habitat, wildlife, or other regionally appropriate topics on the environment.

Special attention will be given to recruitment of diverse local groups throughout NC. We believe that many youth in these areas may not understand the significance of their own "backyard", and that by instilling in them a sense of place and an understanding of conservation, we will lead them to become more active and engaged in conservation efforts.

Positions are based throughout NC, in rural, surburban, and urban centers such as: Asheville, Charlotte, Greensboro/Winston-Salem, Durham, Highlands/Sylva, and Wilmington.
