The Physical Activity Coordinator position is a full-time role bringing physical activity to Community Schools as a means to alleviate stress in youth, engage youth in important team-building skills, and rally communities around positive gatherings like sports games. Members will also support community partner events for students, families, and neighborhood residents on campuses. These events and activities will provide opportunities for programming & services such as basic needs, health, technology.
Service Activities
Will provide academic support, physical activities, conflict resolution, college preparation, and access to social services during and after-school, and in the summer for K-12 grade students while building capacity for community education in all 11 Flint Community Schools. AmeriCorps members address the root problems of underachievement, improve student academic performance (with a focus in literacy and STEM courses) and school attendance, and reduce student disciplinary incidents.
