The Crim Fitness Foundation cultivates accessible, vibrant communities in Flint and Genesee County that encourage people to lead healthy lifestyles by integrating physical activity, healthy eating, and mindfulness into their daily lives and mentors other communities to do the same.
The Flint Community Schools Corps is made up of 45 AmeriCorps members (22 AmeriCorps State members and 23 VISTAs) who provide before/during/after-school and summer learning activities for K-12 grade students and build capacity for community education in eleven Flint Community Schools. Members coordinate with the Community School Directors and Vice President/Community Schools Coordinator to provide wrap-around services to students and families that address the root problems of underachievement. The Flint Community Schools Corps is supported by the Operation AmeriCorps grant awarded to the City of Flint, as well as local match support. The Crim Fitness Foundation is the implementing organization for the Community Schools Corps, as well as the lead agency for the Community Education Initiative in Flint.
