  • Community & Nonprofit Development

Community Resource Center's mission is to create opportunities, tools and strategies to develop nonprofits and community groups to strengthen Colorado.

  • About Us
Statewide Training: Through our capacity building trainings across Colorado, individuals from a variety of backgrounds learn up-to-date and practical information covering nonprofit best practices including fund development, financial management, board effectiveness, evaluation, civic engagement, and strategic planning. In 2019, CRC served 4,023 individuals through 100 trainings and other educational events in Colorado.

Colorado Grants Guide®: Our online funding database empowers nonprofits to connect with foundations who whose grantmaking initiatives align with their work. By streamlining grant research, nonprofits can focus their development efforts on cultivating relationships with potential funding partners. Through this resource, CRC ensures nonprofits are creating financially stable organizations. Over 2,685 individuals utilized the platform in 2019 through organizational subscriptions, accessing at a local public library, or as a student of a higher education institution.

Nonprofit Leadership & Management Program: This six-month immersive program offers emerging executive directors the opportunity to expand leadership capabilities, master new management techniques, and cultivate meaningful professional relationships. In 2019, CRC engaged 16 leaders to grow their skills and confidence in their leadership development. With over 700 alumni, this program supports the vitality of the nonprofit sector throughout Colorado.

The Participation Project: This program provides training and support to human service nonprofits for their nonpartisan advocacy and civic engagement efforts. CRC builds the civic capacity of organizations, identifies and marshals critical resources, and coordinates a network of more than 40 nonprofits to take action on issues that affect their missions and clients most. Through partnerships with human service nonprofits, the program registered over 600 people to participate in the 2019 election, and worked to get out the vote for over 4,800 individuals.

AmeriCorps: CRC engages AmeriCorps VISTA members to build the internal capacity of rural nonprofits to alleviate poverty in their communities. Members provide capacity building support through fundraising, recruiting volunteers, improving organizational systems, and planning community outreach events. Since 2014, CRC has placed a total of 78 members between Denver and rural sites, and is currently partnering with 33 host sites.

CRC's Rural Capacity Building Project

Are you interested in National Service? Would you like to make a difference in one of Colorado’s many vibrant communities? Are you looking for an opportunity to gain hands on experience in the nonprofit sector and build skills to further your professional and/or educational goals? More than 5,100 nonprofit organizations operate within rural Colorado. These organizations play an important role in improving the quality of life in Colorado’s communities and provide services that alleviate poverty, addressing everything from transitional housing to early childhood education to strengthening local food systems. In order to build the capacity of rural nonprofits to more effectively address key factors that influence poverty in our state’s communities and further mission impact, CRC provides a limited number of AmeriCorps VISTA members to our rural nonprofit partners across the state. Our AmeriCorps VISTA program provides national service members who deliver indirect services to build the organizational, administrative and financial capacity of nonprofit organizations. Program Goals: - Grow Organizational Capacity: Nonprofits and community groups in rural Colorado grow in organizational capacity and gain additional resources to accomplish their missions. - Provide Professional Development: VISTA members have a positive experience during which they increase in ability and gain valuable insight for future studies and employment. - Alleviate Poverty: Persistent poverty in rural Colorado is reduced
