We Grow Good Eaters! Common Threads connects kids to healthy food through hands on gardening and cooking programs.

  • About Us
Common Threads currently gardens, cooks, and eats with close to 6000 children annually and collaborates with teaching and food service staff in 21 local schools. We actively seek out partnerships with community organizations that target services to low-income youth, and continuously ask ourselves what the next innovation or collaboration might be to most effectively engage children’s curiosities and passions for developing life-long healthy eating habits.
Common Threads Farm offers year-round programming in two different ways: in schools and in a camp setting.School-Based programs engage kids in school gardens and the classroom from September to June. Spring Break and Summer programs engage kids for week-long adventures in cooking, eating, and exploring at the Outback Farm at WWU.
  • Our Impact
As a result of our programs, kids become more excited to try new foods. Our programs also: Strengthen hard skills(knife skills, hygiene, hot to plant, tend and harvest), Support socio-emotional learning around taking turns and cooperating, serve as an opportunity for kids to blossom in a non-traditional learning setting.
