Description

College Forward coaches underserved, motivated students to achieve the benefits of higher education and a post-secondary degree. We pair students with near-peer coaches who provide personalized support to guide students from 11th grade through college graduation.

We are seeking AmeriCorps*Texas members to serve as College Coaches at our Austin site. The applicant must possess a sincere interest in empowering youth and a passion for higher education. Applicants should also possess the ability to carefully and strategically plan individual work goals in order to meet organizational objectives in a timely manner; ability to closely monitor progress towards these goals and take appropriate remedial action when necessary. Successful applicants are leaders with strong organizational and interpersonal skills.

Member Duties:
Lead college prep classes for underserved students; Learn about student interests, needs, and backgrounds; help students achieve goals; Collect, organize, and maintain student and program information and statistics; Become knowledgeable with Texas financial aid and the ACT and SAT; Participate in the Summer Tour of Colleges by traveling with students to different colleges within Texas and providing hands-on activities to help them learn more about the campuses.
