Description

At Changeist, you will work on a diverse team to learn to design, implement and improve spaces for middle and high school youth to learn and practice changemaking skills. You will do this by creating thoughtful, culturally responsive workshops and experiences to enhance learning. At the end of the program year, the youth you lead will feel more equipped and empowered to take on issues most important to them.

targeted outreach in your site’s location
• Nurture and cultivate relationships with schools, community-based partners, and families to help youth access social justice practitioners and leaders.
• Design curriculum and learning experiences (field trips) for participants to build community and learn about complex social justice issues
• Coach a small learning community of Changeist participants in civic reflection, enhancing their learning and experience
• Contribute to alumni programs that take place outside of Saturdays to further develop their leadership skills or learn about a new career pathway. (i.e. Changeist Media, Team Leader Program)
• Utilize data to improve the quality of program week to week
• Lead special projects that will build on the current work of the organization

Benefits
• Bi-weekly Living Allowance
• Post-service Segal Education Award (for those who have not earned the value of two full awards)
• Option to enroll in Changeist AmeriCorps member health insurance program
• Loan forbearance on qualifying student loans
• Professional and leadership development

Testimonies

Lauren L. - Changeist Youth Empowerment Fellow 20' - 21’

“Working with Changeist affirmed my passion for education. Additionally, working directly with young people and having the agency to design my own curriculum boosted my confidence. Changeist’s collaborative environment allowed me to learn from my peers in the program, challenging my assumptions and pushing me to improve my practice.”

Chau Anh N. - Changeist Youth Empowerment Fellow 21' - 22’

“Seeing the behind-the-scenes as a high school alum makes me appreciate Changeist even more because I see the amount of effort channeled into creating these spaces. I’ve always loved Changeist as a participant, and now as a Changeist AmeriCorps member I really appreciate the types of experiences Changeist creates.”
