Description
This project is in support of Kupu’s Sustainability Initiatives and the World Conservation Congress’ global efforts to work together to create good environmental governance, engaging all parts of society to share both the responsibilities and the benefits of conservation.
The VISTA will work with the California Conservation Corps (CCC), located in Sacramento, CA, to help the CCC Recruitment Unit implement new strategies and processes to recruit new corpsmembers.
The VISTA will work to build capacity in the CCC Recruitment Unit by contributing to the research, development, and analysis of CCC recruitment processes, partnerships, and resources. The outputs of the AmeriCorps VISTA will enable CCC Recruiters to reliably maintain a healthy pipeline of applicants, and will positively impact the agency’s ability to reach impoverished youth throughout California and raise awareness around CCC pathways out of poverty through educational and work-learning services.
The CCC hires young men and women for a year of natural resource work and emergency response to help preserve, conserve, and protect California’s environment, providing job training and education services to young adults from diverse and varied backgrounds.
The CCC recruits corpsmembers from diverse socioeconomic backgrounds, many of whom come from impoverished backgrounds and disadvantaged communities, in need of job training and/or education services. For more information about the CCC, please visit www.ccc.ca.gov
