To protect and conserve natural areas to enrich and engage current and future generations
The Bur Oak Land Trust AmeriCorps program is developing leaders in conservation in Eastern Iowa. Bur Oak Land Trust AmeriCorps members strive to enhance Iowa’s natural resources and foster environmental stewardship by engaging local volunteers, community groups and schools in service projects, hands-on learning opportunities and educational workshops. Bur Oak Land Trust AmeriCorps members will work to improve over 478 acres of land within Washington, Poweshiek, and Johnson Counties. Through service Bur Oak Land Trust AmeriCorps members receive real‐world experience, networking and training opportunities, a living stipend, health coverage (if applicable) and, upon completing their service, an education award to pursue advanced degrees or courses. Bur Oak Land Trust AmeriCorps is a program of Bur Oak Land Trust and is supported in part by the Corporation for National and Community Service, Iowa Commission on Volunteer Service, Bur Oak Land Trust and contributions from host sites.
