AmeriCorps VISTA Training Coordinator

The Training Coordinator will (1) develop and implement in person and online trainings for staff and volunteers to strengthen skill sets of staff and effectiveness when coaching on how to best serve low-income youth, (2) train site directors on how to effectively administer trainings to other staff and volunteers, (3) create a database of online training materials and trainings that can be used to train future staff and volunteers, and (4) conduct an analysis of the Club's ability to fight poverty and improve program outcomes.

Service Activities

Examine the impact of high-quality education, enrichment, and recreation programming delivered during afterschool time on the development of academic and social-emotional skills, as well as confidence among children served
Pilot trainings in a series of online and in-person training sessions for all BGCUC staff members
Evaluate the trainings and make modifications as needed
Teach other staff members how to conduct effective trainings
Learn best practices for presentations and trainings
Create interactive, online trainings

Community Need Addressed

This VISTA project is designed to help the Boys and Girls Clubs of Utah County serve more youth more effectively and in so doing, help BGCUC more fully fulfill its mission to inspire and enable all young people, especially those who need it most, to reach their full potential as productive, caring, and responsible citizens.

Position Outcomes

The Training Coordinator VISTA will create and implement staff and volunteer trainings that will help staff and volunteers to work more effectively with youth and develop necessary skills for their positions.
