The Full Time AmeriCorps Member is responsible for assisting the Program Manager with the implementation of the program, targeting 170 high school-age youth. Each full-time AmeriCorps Member is responsible for providing direct services and training to 70 Youth Volunteer Corps members, assisting with program delivery targeted to 170 high school-age youth, and serving as a Team Leader. The AmeriCorps Member will provide out-of-school education support, mentoring, service-learning activities, pre-college and college enrollment services at a designated Boys and Girls Clubs location impacting 1,000 youth across Palm Beach County.

Service Activities

The Boys & Girls Clubs of Palm Beach County will have 29 AmeriCorps Members who will provide out-of-school education support, mentoring, service-learning activities, pre-college and college enrollment services to 170 high school age youth at 6 Clubs, impacting 1,000 youth across Palm Beach County, Florida. At the end of the first program year, the AmeriCorps Members will be responsible for services that assisted with on-time grade progression, increased youth developmental assets, prepared high school age youth for post-secondary education , and enrolled high school seniors in college.

Community Need Addressed

Low post-secondary institution enrollment of low income youth in Palm Beach County, vulnerability to high risk behavior and poor academic performance resulting from poverty and a lack of critical resources.

Position Outcomes

Increase knowledge and awareness of college readiness and eligibility standards, improve academic engagements, enroll seniors in post secondary education program, and increase in external and internal assets.
