Focus Areas

  • Education & Youth

Provide children facing adversity with strong and enduring, professionally supported one-to-one relationships that change their lives for the better, forever.

  • About Us
Big Brothers Big Sisters hosts three programs:

    1) BBBS Reads- Utilizing AmeriCorps Members and locally funded Members, literacy tutoring is provided to students 3 times a week in 30 minute sessions. These Members serve approximately 25 hours a week/900 hours a year and serve 10-12 VPK-3rd grade students each.

    2) Site Based Mentoring- Community volunteers use literacy as the base of a long-term supported relationship one-on-one with a child in grades K-5. This program focuses on social emotional learning as well as academics.

    3) Community Based Mentoring- Community volunteers spend time with their Little in the community doing things together like fishing, watching movies and other activities. The focus is on life skills and social emotional skills. This program is for students in K-12th grade.
  • Our Impact
Students in all three of our programs:

-Significant growth in iReady data when compared to non-mentored students.
    - Are less likely to be engaged in the juvenile justice system.
-Are absent less than their peers.
    -Practice setting and achieving goals.
