Austin Achieve is a tuition-free, open enrollment public charter school preparing East Austin youth to attend and excel at top universities.

  • About Us
Austin Achieve is a public, open-enrollment charter school in northeast Austin, Texas. The school was founded in 2012, with a single class of 125 6th grade scholars. Since then, the School has grown significantly. In the 2021-22 school year, we will administer cohorts in every grade level from Pre-Kindergarten - 12 and plan to enroll approximately 2595 scholars.

On average, scholars arrive at Austin Achieve from neighboring Independent School Districts (ISDs) two-three grade levels below state-issued reading standards. For 64% of Austin Achieve scholars, English is their second language. Additional reading support both inside and outside of the classroom is critical. By design, Austin Achieve scholars spend an additional 259 hours in the classroom annually. Extended school days give scholars the ability to participate in tailored reading intervention classes. While the shift in school day hours proves beneficial for Austin Achieve scholars overall, one of the most important indicators of their success is access to adequate reading interventions.

Austin Achieve boasts a bold mission that “All Scholars [will graduate AAPS], College Ready.” The majority of Austin Achieve scholars will be the first in their family to attend college, thus opening countless new opportunities for employment and wealth generation. Recent research suggests that college graduates make - on average - $30,000/year more than those with a high school diploma (Bahney, 2019). The better prepared and more consistently that Austin Achieve scholars are at grade level for reading, the more likely it is that they will matriculate to and persist through college and beyond.
  • Our Impact
Our vision is to build the next generation of community leaders by closing the opportunity gap for our scholars and their families. We achieve this goal by equipping scholars to become self-advocates. Austin Achieve ensures college-readiness for all scholars through a whole child approach that emphasizes rigorous academics, social and emotional development, and access to a wide-range of extracurricular opportunities.

Austin Achieve closely monitors and tracks college persistence and offers continued support to alumni. In May 2019, Austin Achieve High School graduated its first class of seniors. 100% of students graduated and were accepted to college. Despite challenges presented by the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic and its lasting detrimental effects in the classroom, the graduating class of 2020 persisted with 99% of the class graduating from AAPS; 81% were accepted to college.
