The Wenatchee School District After School Expanded Learning Programs are seeking AmeriCorps members that want to share and grow their skills while making a difference in students' lives. In this position, you will:
-Work as part of a team made up of staff from 7 program sites
-Attend a variety of trainings on youth development and youth program
quality
-Develop, implement, and lead engaging enrichment activities for
elementary and/or middle school students during after school and summer
programming
-Coordinate programs and activities which could include: parent education
classes, social media, recreation leagues, volunteer oversight

Service Activities

-Plan and Lead Enrichment Activities for after school and summer programs
-Complete lesson plans on time
-Work alongside site coordinators to develop leadership skills
-Provide daytime classroom support
-Participate in staff meetings and trainings
-Coordinate programs and activities based on organizational needs and members' strengths and interests. Program coordination could include: Social Media, Parent Education and Engagement Activities, Volunteer Program, Recreation Leagues, Field Trips, and Event Planning

Community Need Addressed

Provide a wide range of enriching activities, academic support and community field trips outside of the regular school day.

Provide a safe, supervised, and enriching environment for academically struggling children and youth to increase their academic achievement level, school and community connectedness, physical activity, and social/life skills.

SafeSchools: 5 hours of online training in topics including, but not limited to: Student Drug and Alcohol Abuse, Bullying, Suicide Awareness, Bloodborne Pathogen Exposure Prevention and Students Experiencing Homelessness: Awareness and Understanding. Youth Methods Trainings: A series of 2- to 3-hour workshops focused on Program Quality. They are delivered in the participatory learning method and provide point-of-service staff with practical skills that they can implement immediately. Trainings include but are not limited to: Active Participatory Approach, Building Community, and Planning and Reflection.
