Receive training on key curriculum and facilitation practices; Support the MFS Economic Empowerment team in the delivery of creative financial education focused curriculum for various communities in school sites and culturally specific partner agencies; Co-facilitate financial education focused programs to elementary through high school aged students and youth interns, and adult financial education workshops and coaching for clients and volunteers; Support resource and referral efforts for MFS families and clients; Work with other MFS AmeriCorps members and staff to create financial education opportunities across programs; Recruit and coordinate community volunteers.

Service Activities

Co-facilitate financial education workshops and coaching in a variety of settings to clients and volunteers
Develop and implement virtual financial education workshops
Track and report all participant data in Efforts to Outcomes (ETO) database
Coordinate with existing MFS programs to assess financial education needs and natural connection points for services offered to families
Co-teach financial education curriculum during extended-day Schools Uniting Neighborhoods (SUN) program in elementary schools
Tailor children’s financial education curriculum to meet students’ academic levels
Co-lead Money Makers, a hands-on, interactive financial education class for elementary age students
Youth Internship Program
Assist in the coordination of a spring youth internship program for high school students from marginalized, low income communities
Support financial education workshops that assist high school students with financial independence and career readiness skills, as needed
Support mentoring and case management for students involved in program to make sure students can succeed in program, as needed
Coordinate Umpqua Bank partner volunteers throughout tax season to conduct outreach and connect families and clients with free tax preparation services
Assist in the recruitment of volunteers for financial reality fairs at various high schools involved in MFS SUN programming
Support the development and tailoring of financial education curriculum to different age groups and community needs, including virtual education
Administer program intake assessments and financial capability assessments at program entry; administer program post assessments as necessary
Support resource navigation and referral efforts for MFS families and clients at MFS Food Pantry Distributions and across all MFS programs
Promote MFS Economic Empowerment programs and services across MFS program areas and throughout the community
Seek in-kind donations for projects and events while operating within AmeriCorps allowable fundraising guidelines
Conduct outreach to our older adults participating in Project Linkage through ride-alongs and assist with the dissemination of financial education materials relevant to this demographic
Receive training on MFS marketing and communication guidelines to enhance service and program outreach in the community (via flyers, blogs, newsletters, infographics, etc.)
Support MFS Economic Empowerment and other program community data analysis (i.e. Community Resource Survey)
Participate in tax preparation volunteer training with MFS partner agency CASH Oregon
Collaborate with MFS tax team to develop/update tax time “toolkits”
Create presentation and train fellow MFS staff and AmeriCorps members on how to use tax time “toolkits”
Collaborate with MFS tax team to provide tax time workshops across MFS agency sites and programs
Provide 1:1 tax site navigation to MFS community, supporting community members to access free tax preparation services
Participate in ITIN renewal training
Support community members with ITIN application and ITIN renewal application
