Fellows live in intentional community with other fellows, receive housing, health insurance, a small stipend, mentorship, and learn about the 5 Tenets of AH: social justice, community, service, faith, and stewardship.

Job Description: Instructional Aide

Accountability:
The Instructional Aide is directly responsible to their classroom teaching team and the Principal of San
Miguel School. The Instructional Aide provides academic assistance and enrichment opportunities to the
students of San Miguel. The Instructional Aide functions within the guidelines provided by San Miguel School
to which he/she is assigned and functions in alignment with San Miguel School’s priorities.
Hours:
The San Miguel School Instructional Aide position is full-time and the schedule will be devised in
coordination with their assigned teaching team and school Principal. The instructional aide is required to be
onsite during school hours Monday-Thursday 7:55 am-3:30 pm and Friday 7:30 am-2:30 pm. The San Miguel
School Instructional Aide will work outside of typical school hours on mutually agreed upon occasions and
have an opportunity for additional stipend work. San Miguel School offers its students multiple overnight
field trips throughout the year which the Instructional Aide is expected to chaperone with their teaching
team.
General Responsibilities:
● Be responsible for morning homeroom, homework collection, check-in questions and reporting
attendance to the school secretary.
● Check student reading logs, record homework progress, and deliver information to lead teachers.
● Collaborate weekly with the teaching team to plan and lead enrichment and
non-academic classes.
● Read aloud to and with struggling students according to their reading goals and plan.
● Tutor individual students and small groups during mathematics classes according to their
personalized learning pathway.
● Hold students accountable to the school standards and expectations while treating students with
grace and humility. (Training will be Provided)
● Supervise students during lunch and lead organized recess games and activities with other members
of the teaching team.
● Facilitate fluid instruction by assisting teachers with making copies, collecting and sometimes grading
simple assignments, leading small groups, and keeping students organized and on task.
● Typical duties of a full-time teacher will not be expected of the Instructional Aide position.
Other duties as assigned by the principal will be mutually agreed upon.
Qualifications:
● High School Diploma Required, Bachelor's Degree Preferred
● Spanish Speaking Preferred but not required.

$200 - $200 monthly

Food Budget. Transportation to and from service site. Each fellow is provided with opportunity to be matched with a professional mentor, a spiritual companion, and counseling resources. There are three service days and trainings for all fellows each service year as well as mentoring if wanted.
