The Community Outreach and Engagement VISTA member will be responsible for designing the needs assessment and determining how best to deliver it, collecting and analyzing the data, and developing a resource list to meet identified needs. They will also organize community meetings and encourage attendance by researching and implementing community outreach strategies tailored to the geographic areas we are targeting. The VISTA member will track participation (through sign in sheets for meetings and student attendance of volunteer-led events) for analysis and reporting. They will identify local businesses as resources for families and sponsors of workshops, assist in finding speakers for community meetings, and maintain an updated list of prospective speakers. Similarly, they will create and log activities conducted with partner organizations and maintain a database of those activities, including developing and distributing pre- and post-surveys to partners so we can measure success and increased capacity. Finally, the VISTA member will create a framework for tracking ASAS alumni, establishing procedures with DCPS to continue tracking academic data into high school. To tackle all of these tasks, the VISTA member will be supported by both Starting With Today and our Community Engagement Manager.
