AmeriCorps Program Site Lead

The AmeriCorps Program Site Lead will support academic and enrichment activities in the after-school programming and ASAS data collection and evaluation effort in six (6) Title 1 public schools in Wards 6, 7 and 8 in Washington, DC. At the end of the program year, the AmeriCorps members will be responsible for having increased 150 middle school students' academic performance, high school awareness, college exposure, interest in and awareness of careers, as well as increased knowledge of healthy nutrition and fitness impact on students' life. The AmeriCorps members will leverage an additional ten volunteers who will be engaged in supporting students and programming for service projects. In addition, the AmeriCorps members will assist with the collection of data (daily attendance and students' surveys) for program evaluation purposes.

Service Activities

• Collaborate with school-day teachers to ensure that students have current homework assignments to complete during the after-school session.
• Collaborate with school counselors on school day issues that may affect the after-school day.
• Assist Site Coordinator in planning logistics of field trips for students
• Assist Site Coordinator to ensure site visuals (bulletin board, branding materials) are kept up-to-date and in good condition.
• Assist Site Coordinator to ensure that site materials (office supplies, enrollment forms, club supplies) are kept on-hand and updated as necessary.
• Assist the Site Coordinator in recruitment efforts to ensure that the program reaches or exceeds its attendance goal.
• Assist with program implementation at all ASAS sites as needed

We deliver comprehensive, community-oriented programs to under-resourced students in five program areas: Visual Arts, STEM, Career Exploration, Academic Readiness, and Health and Fitness.

Youth will show measurable behavioral and knowledge gains in the five program areas: Visual Arts, STEM, Career Exploration, Academic Readiness, and Health and Fitness.
