Service Year 100
Welcome to Service Year 100, a first-of-its-kind program created by Service Year Alliance to challenge 100 of today’s future leaders to take their year of service to the next level.
Some of the country’s biggest brands — Airbnb, LinkedIn and Starbucks — offered special incentives through in-kind donations to help members succeed during their service year and in life after service. They’ve challenged members to transform themselves and their community and are providing support to get the job done.
To learn more about how you can support the Service Year 100 program email Nic Hill, Business Development Manager, Service Year Alliance (email@example.com).

How it works + the support you get
Service Year 100 members will complete a series of challenges sponsored by a different company and post about their experience on social media. Follow #ServiceYear100 to see our members in action!
The goal of these challenges is to demonstrate that service years build bridges — across divides, between people serving with different corps, and to the rest of a member’s life post-service.
Challenge: Build trust with strangers
Build trust with strangers and make new friends while relocating for a service year. Service Year 100 leaders received a free Airbnb housing voucher to relocate for their service year, which covered roughly 6-10 nights while they found permanent housing. Leaders had the chance to get to know their Airbnb host during their transition, and find new friends in their new city!
Challenge: Learn a new skill
Learn a new skill and teach it to someone in the community. For an entire service year, Service Year 100 leaders will receive free LinkedIn Premium Accounts and free LinkedIn Learning Accounts. LinkedIn believes these leaders should have the best support to help them serve and prepare for their career. Service Year 100 participants can select from 1000+ courses to learn any skill they want!
Challenge: Get to know someone new
We’re all in this together. When Service Year 100 leaders meet someone else serving in their city, they’re invited to debrief about their experiences over coffee. Leaders will receive a free Starbucks gift card to use as they build relationships with someone new through their service experience. Starbucks believes nothing brings people together like service, and nothing gets conversation going like a cup of coffee.
Challenge: Step outside your comfort zone
Step outside your comfort zone and learn something new about your city. Members will receive a free Airbnb Social Impact Experience, which will allow them to go on social impact experiences with knowledgeable hosts from local nonprofits and get to know their causes, like sustainable living or local artisan movements. Service Year leaders will uncover a side of the city that few travelers see, gain a new perspective and get to know the volunteers and activists who are closest to their causes.
Service Year 100 leaders are the exact type of teammates Airbnb, LinkedIn, Starbucks, and Service Year Alliance want working at their companies. Service Year 100 leaders may access partner HR teams, career panels, or other career support over the course of their service year.
Airbnb, LinkedIn, Starbucks, and Service Year Alliance frequently host business leaders and celebrities as speakers at their companies. Service Year 100 leaders will have access to various events and can attend in person if they are in that city!
Over the course of the year, there may be local events with partner companies that Service Year 100 leaders are invited to attend.. These events will aim to build a community among Service Year 100 leaders, introduce them to the folks supporting their service, and explore options for life after their service year.
Featured in press, media, and various platforms
Not only are Service Year 100 leaders serving their community and country for a year, but they’re taking it to the next level. As a part of Service Year 100, these leaders will be invited to tell their story in various forums and platforms.
