The Alums Corner: The Scoop After Service is a quarterly newsletter focused on providing AmeriCorps alums and service year alums with news, resources, job opportunities, tips, and more to support them after their service year journey.  Are an AmeriCorps alum or service year alum? AmeriCorps Alums is part of Service Year Alliance

AmeriCorps Alums is the only national network that connects the over one million alumni of all AmeriCorps programs to resources that support their lifetime of service. AmeriCorps is federally funded and the largest service year umbrella program, offering opportunities with three main types of service year programs: AmeriCorps State and National, AmeriCorps VISTA, and AmeriCorps NCCC (National Civilian Community Corps). Kenvin

Unsure about his future after high school, Kenvin learned about a leadership program working with 3-4 year olds in a classroom. Learn how Kenvin’s service year gave him confidence, purpose, and a path to college.

Maisha

Maisha wanted to give back by helping children with summer tutoring and academic support during the school year. Her service year led to executive level positions in the nonprofit field.

Xavier

Xavier earned his GED and also found stability, a sense of direction, and support through his service year.

Corey

Corey's service year between college and medical school paved the way for his career in medicine and helped him better understand challenges outside of the hospital that affect patients' health. 

Melanie

Melanie had no idea what she wanted to do after college but knew it was a good time in life to embark on an adventure. Her service year landed her a dream job at a marketing agency.

Germain

Germain's  service year gave him the confidence and skills he needs to succeed in his role today as he prepares students for college — at the same high school where he dropped out over a decade ago. 

John

John's service year with AmeriCorps VISTA in Mobile, Alabama led him to two things: a career in disaster relief, and his wife, Katie.

Austin

Austin thought he would serve for a couple of years and then go to law school or business school. Instead, his service year ignited his desire to work in education.
